Seth Meyers: ‘Maybe Trump thinks he’s working hard’ because Twitter doubled its characters

Seth Meyers joked that President Trump thinks he’s working hard because Twitter doubled the number of characters available to users for tweets.

During his late-night show, Meyers showed a clip of Trump wishing people a happy Thanksgiving and saying: “We’re going to be working very hard during the recess in Florida. We’re going to Florida.”

“Only Trump could get ‘We’re going to be working very hard’ and ‘We’re going to Florida’ in the same sentence,” Meyers said.

“Maybe Trump thinks he’s working hard because Twitter went from 140 characters to 280. ‘My workload has doubled.'”

Meyers continued to imitate Trump, saying, “‘Sometimes I have to type tax cuts and #MAGA in the same tweet.'”

Twitter, earlier this month, announced it’s decision to double the number of characters users can use in tweets.

The company explained it thought the move, first tested among a smaller group of users in September, would be helpful given that 9 percent of tweets hit the previous 140-character limit.

Trump is known for his use of Twitter, often using the medium to announce political views and attack his enemies. In recent days, he has taken to Twitter to attack LaVar Ball, the father of one of the UCLA basketball players who was detained in China for shoplifting.
