Van Jones to launch his own CNN show in January

CNN political commentator and former Obama “green jobs” adviser Van Jones will launch his own one-hour prime-time program on the network beginning in January 2018.

“The Van Jones Show” will air bimonthly on the network. It has not been announced what day and time the show will air.

“Jones will return to CNN with his unique take on the forces that elected Donald Trump, the anti-Trump ‘resistance’ movement and the future of both major parties,” a network announcement said.

“The show will build on Jones’ successful town halls throughout 2017, The Messy Truth, and will continue to speak directly to voters across the country by exploring the raw, emotional policy debates and culture wars taking place in America.”

The program will be presented before a live studio audience and feature “fresh and charismatic voices on the front lines of political fights across the country.”

CNN also says it has approved the production of a new network original series with production company Citizen Jones. The series will focus on “reconciliation, hope and redemption within the criminal justice system.”

Jones was briefly a member of the Obama administration as its “green jobs czar” in 2009 before being forced to resign after calling Republicans “assholes” — and after it was discovered he had signed a petition in 2004 supporting the “9/11 truther” movement, which he has since said was done in error.

The 49-year-old former attorney signed with CNN in 2013 to be a co-host on the network’s reboot of “Crossfire,” which was canceled the following year.
