Joe Scarborough: Trump supporters ‘putting up with him’ despite ‘stupid’ tweets

MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough said supporters of President Trump he has spoken with aren’t happy with “the stupid things in his tweets” but are “putting up with him for now” during a discussion on “Morning Joe” on Tuesday.

“Here’s the thing about Trumpism. And Elise, you know this being from Mississippi,” Scarborough told Time contributor Elise Jordan. “There are a lot of people that supported Donald Trump.

“Most of my friends now, when I call and ask them, it’s more like, ‘I’m putting up with him. He’s not Hillary Clinton. He got us a good Supreme Court justice. But God, he sure does a lot of stupid things in his tweets. The guy drives me crazy.’ They’re really getting tired of Donald Trump’s chaos and nonsense.”

“Especially educated Donald Trump voters,” Jordan added.

“I think Roy Moore takes that a bridge too far,” Scarborough replied.

“I think a lot of people will be just staying home,” he added, instead of voting in Alabama’s special election on Dec. 12.

Moore is under fire after The Washington Post earlier this month reported accusations of sexual misconduct and assault against him by several women. The women said Moore made advances toward them when he was in his early 30s and they were teenagers as young as 14.

Trump has not appeared on “Morning Joe” since May 2016 despite being a regular guest for phone interviews after he announced his candidacy in June 2015.

An earlier version of this story misattributed remarks to Joe Scarborough.
