MSNBC’s Mika Brzezinski on Tuesday said President Trump in a tweet suggested that Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.) would “have sex with him” to get campaign contributions.
Brzezinski called it “reprehensible” that Trump would say something so “derogatory and disgusting” about a woman. She tore into Trump, saying he treats women like “punching bags.”
“Let’s just say it,” she said on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.”
“He’s suggesting that Kirsten Gillibrand would have sex with him in order to get campaign contributions. The president actually tweeted that this morning.”{mosads}
Her comments came after President Trump tweeted Tuesday morning that Gillibrand would “do anything” for campaign contributions.
“Lightweight Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, a total flunky for Chuck Schumer and someone who would come to my office ‘begging’ for campaign contributions not so long ago (and would do anything for them), is now in the ring fighting against Trump,” he tweeted.
“Very disloyal to Bill & Crooked-USED!”
Gillibrand on Tuesday responded to the tweet, saying Trump could not silence her.
“You cannot silence me or the millions of women who have gotten off the sidelines to speak out about the unfitness and shame you have brought to the Oval Office,” she tweeted.
The exchange came a day after Gillibrand said Trump should resign from office because of the accusations of sexual misconduct numerous women have made against him.
Gillibrand in November joined Rep. Jackie Speier (D-Calif.) to introduce The Member and Employee Training and Oversight On Congress Act (ME TOO Congress) Act, which would require sexual harassment awareness training and reform the process available for staffers to file complaints.
