Seth Meyers on Trump’s first State of the Union: ‘I have to say, he did all white’
Late-night host Seth Meyers on Wednesday mocked President Trump’s State of the Union address, saying the president “did all white.”
“President Trump gave his first State of the Union address last night. And I have to say, he did all white,” Meyers said while showing a picture including members of Trump’s administration.
Meyers also said that giving Trump credit for getting through the State of the Union speech “is like giving a dog credit for wearing a sweater.”
{mosads}”He didn’t pick that sweater out and he certainly didn’t put it on,” Meyers said. “So he might look like a perfect little gentleman, but all he wants is to get that sweater off.”
Meyers said that whatever Trump says when he’s reading from a script is “undercut once the teleprompter is off.”
Trump delivered his first State of the Union address Tuesday night, calling for bipartisan action on immigration and infrastructure and asking a deeply divided nation to come together after a tumultuous first year in office.
“To every citizen watching at home tonight, no matter where you have been or where you come from, this is your time,” Trump said during the speech.
“If you work hard, if you believe in yourself, if you believe in America, then you can dream anything, you can be anything, and together, we can achieve absolutely anything,” he said.
