Scarborough: Trump in ‘meltdown mode’ over indictments

MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough said President Trump is in “meltdown mode” on Sunday after special counsel Robert Mueller brought charges against 13 Russian nationals who allegedly interfered in the 2016 U.S. elections.

“Someone, anyone close to the president needs to take his phone away this morning. He is in meltdown mode over the Russian indictments,” Scarborough tweeted.

“Him freaking out and spinning wildly makes him look more desperate by the tweet. Lawyers, I’m serious. Take. The. Phone.”

Special counsel Robert Mueller last week brought charges against 13 Russian nationals and three Russian groups for interfering in the 2016 U.S. elections.

{mosads}The explosive new charges allege that the Russians created false U.S. personas and stole the identities of real Americans in order to interfere with the 2016 presidential election, an assessment previously reached by U.S. intelligence agencies.

Trump on Saturday and Sunday took to Twitter, making multiple comments on Russian election interference and the Russia investigation.

He tweeted Saturday it was “sad” the FBI missed “many signals sent out by the Florida school shooter” and accused the bureau of spending too much time trying to prove Russian collusion with the Trump campaign.

On Sunday, he took to Twitter to claim he never said Russia didn’t meddle in the 2016 presidential race, but said the “Russian ‘hoax’ was that the Trump campaign colluded with Russia – it never did!”

In a subsequent tweet, Trump said: “If it was the GOAL of Russia to create discord, disruption and chaos within the U.S. then, with all of the Committee Hearings, Investigations and Party hatred, they have succeeded beyond their wildest dreams. They are laughing their asses off in Moscow. Get smart America!”
