Glenn Beck: Divisions in US reminiscent of Germany in 1920s

Glenn Beck on Sunday compared the political landscape in the United States to the Weimar Republic in the 1920s.

“I’m a student of history. And you can look to the 1960s for answers and you can look to the 1920s and 30s for the problems,” Beck, the founder of the conservative website and television network The Blaze, told CNN’s “Reliable Sources.”

{mosads}“And we are currently deeply, probably 1926, 1928 Weimar Republic,” referring to the German historical era.

Beck during the interview noted the partisanship in the U.S., arguing that opposing sides do not communicate.

“With everybody trying to just win and be right, we stopped listening to each other,” he said. “And we come to this place where we think ‘the other side doesn’t have anything to teach me, so I’m not even going to listen to them.’ ”

The conservative host did not support President Trump during the 2016 election. After Trump’s election victory, he urged Democrats and those upset about the outcome to look for common ground.
