The hosts of MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” slammed President Trump over his potential meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.
“It’s all bluster, there’s no deal, because he doesn’t know how to make a deal,” co-host Joe Scarborough said Friday. “He’s horrible at making deals. That’s why the man ended up $9 billion in debt.”
“He can’t even make a deal with a porn star,” fellow co-host Mika Brzezinski replied, in reference to a nondisclosure agreement between Trump and adult-film actress Stormy Daniels. “He doesn’t even sign the papers of the deal that he struck.”
{mosads}“That’s exactly right,” Scarborough said. “His lawyers can’t even draft a competent deal to keep a porn star quiet. How is he going to keep the North Koreans from getting nuclear weapons?”
Daniels, whose real name is Stephanie Clifford, filed a lawsuit against Trump this week, alleging that a nondisclosure agreement that kept her from discussing an alleged 2006 sexual encounter with Trump was invalid because Trump never signed it.
Scarborough and Brzezinski’s remarks come after a stunning Thursday announcement that Trump had agreed to meet with Kim.
South Korea’s national security adviser announced Thursday night at the White House that Trump had agreed to meet with Kim by May in an effort to see North Korea abandon its nuclear ambitions.
White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said Trump accepted the invitation to meet with the leader “at a place and time to be determined.”
“We look forward to the denuclearization of North Korea,” Sanders said in a statement. “In the meantime, all sanctions and maximum pressure must remain.”
Trump later took to Twitter to say sanctions against North Korea will “remain until an agreement is reached” over the country’s nuclear program.
If the meeting takes place, Trump will become the first sitting U.S. president to meet with North Korea’s leader.
Members of the Trump administration have previously said they’d be willing to hold talks with North Korea, but that they would remain focused on getting Pyongyang to abandon its nuclear program.
