Frank Stallone apologizes after tweet tearing into Parkland student

Frank Stallone on Sunday apologized after he posted a tweet tearing into Parkland, Fla., high school student and gun control activist David Hogg.

“To everyone and to David Hogg especially. I want to deeply apologize for my irresponsible words,” Stallone, an actor and musician who is the younger brother of Sylvester Stallone, tweeted Sunday.

“I would never in a million years wish or promote violence to anyone anywhere on this planet. After what these kids went though I’m deeply ashamed. Please accept my apology. Frank.”

The apology comes after Stallone faced backlash for posting a tweet going after Hogg, who has become a vocal advocate for gun control since a gunman opened fire at his high school in Parkland, Fla., in February.

“This David Hogg pussy is getting a little big for his britches. I’m sure someone from his age group is dying to sucker punch this rich little bitch,” Stallone posted in a now-deleted tweet, according to Newsweek and Mediaite. 

“Watch him run home like the coward he is. He’s the worst rep for today’s youth headline grabbing punk,” he continued in the tweet.

Hogg helped organize the “March for Our Lives” event last month, in which hundreds of thousands of people came to Washington, D.C., and cities across the country to protest gun violence.

Hogg has also faced criticism and been at the center of some conspiracy theories since he started advocating for gun control.

Fox News host Laura Ingraham last week posted a tweet critical of Hogg. Hogg in response listed companies that advertise during Ingraham’s show and called on his followers to contact them. Multiple companies in recent days have said they would no longer advertise during the Fox News host’s show.
