Tomi Lahren slams Trump supporters who defend Roseanne: ‘Wrong is wrong’

Conservative commentator Tomi Lahren slammed supporters of President Trump who tried to defend Roseanne Barr in light of her “indefensible” racist remark earlier this week. 

“What Roseanne tweeted was wrong,” the Fox News host said during part of her “Final Thoughts” segment on Thursday. “And there’s no way around it. And as Trump supporters, we shouldn’t play mental gymnastics trying to justify it. Come on. Wrong is wrong.” 

{mosads}“We know we can’t get away with what the left can. We have to be better. We have to rise to the occasion and act right,” Lahren added, saying the comedian was right to apologize and that conservatives should not be rushing to defend her. 

Lahren said that conservatives “must walk the plank into professional purgatory, while those on the left are given a pass, and move on,” citing names like Samantha Bee, Jimmy Kimmel and Joy Behar.

“We know we’re held to a different standard,” Lahren said. “We must rise to the occasion and act the right way. The last thing we should do is lower our standards, even when the left gets away with lowering theirs. Our words, actions and ideas are more powerful when we can stand behind them.”

Fellow Fox News host Sean Hannity had also slammed the comedian for her racist tweet about former Obama-era White House adviser Valerie Jarrett on Tuesday. 

Hannity said Barr’s remarks comparing Jarrett to an ape were “outrageous” and that she was right to apologize.

Barr, like Lahren and Hannity, is an outspoken Trump supporter. She had tweeted that Jarrett was the child of the Islamist organization Muslim Brotherhood and the film “Planet of the Apes.”

“Muslim brotherhood & planet of the apes had a baby=vj,” Barr wrote, in response to a tweet accusing Jarrett of covering up misdeeds for the Obama administration.

Barr later apologized for the remark and added that she was “leaving Twitter” following the harsh criticism she received for what she called a “bad joke.”

ABC announced that it would be canceling the reboot of “Roseanne” following the tweet.
