Former ABC investigative reporter Brian Ross hired by Dan Abrams’s Law & Crime Network
Former ABC investigative reporter Brian Ross has found a new home with the Law & Crime Network.
Ross, who was suspended last year as ABC’s chief investigative correspondent for an inaccurate report on former national security adviser Michael Flynn, will serve as chief investigative reporter and on-air host of the new weekly original program, “Brian Ross Investigates,” the digital network announced on Monday. Joining Ross will be his longtime producer, Rhonda Schwartz.
{mosads}Law & Crime was founded by ABC chief legal affairs anchor Dan Abrams and is part of a portfolio of popular online publications that includes Mediaite, which covers primarily political media and cable news.
“I worked with Brian and Rhonda for years, and there are no more celebrated and dogged investigative journalists in the country,” Abrams said in the hiring announcement. “We could not be more excited that they have agreed to join our network and team.”
Ross and Schwartz first began working together at NBC News before jumping to ABC News in 1994.
“Between them, the pair have been honored with dozens of the most prestigious awards in journalism including 7 duPonts, 6 Peabody’s, 6 Polks, the 2014 Harvard Goldsmith Prize and 17 Emmy’s,” according to the announcement.
Ross evoked the ire of President Trump following his Flynn report, which originally stated that Trump as a candidate ordered Flynn to make contact with Russian officials before the November 2016 election. The Dow Jones dropped more than 350 points as a result of the report before ABC News was forced to apologize for what it called a “serious error.” Ross departed the network in July.
“Congratulations to @ABC News for suspending Brian Ross for his horrendously inaccurate and dishonest report on the Russia, Russia, Russia Witch Hunt. More Networks and “papers” should do the same with their Fake News!” Trump tweeted on Dec. 2.

“We’re delighted to join Dan and his team,” Schwartz and Ross said in a joint statement.
“ABC and NBC were great partners in the broadcast era. Now in the digital era, we are thrilled to become part of Law & Crime as the place to find news-making and important investigative reporting,” they added.
