Carville on McCarthy’s impeachment inquiry: ‘How could we get so lucky?’
Democratic strategist James Carville is welcoming House Republicans’ pursuit of an impeachment inquiry against President Biden.
“How could we get so lucky?” Carville said to CNN anchor Kaitlan Collins in a Wednesday interview.
Carville called some of the leaders of the recently announced impeachment inquiry “borderline stupid,” including Reps. James Comer (R-Ky.) and Jim Jordan (R-Ohio). He said their effort is “vapid and useless.”
“I want to let the American public see how thin, or how nonexistent their case is,” Carville said.
Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) on Tuesday directed House committees to open a formal impeachment inquiry into the president based on House GOP investigations into Biden and his family’s foreign business dealings and the prosecution of his son, Hunter.
McCarthy said the probe would be led by Comer, Jordan and Rep. Jason Smith (R-Mo.), who are heads of the House Oversight, Judiciary and Ways and Means committees, respectively.
“I do not make this decision lightly. And regardless of your party, or who you voted for, these facts should concern all Americans,” McCarthy said.
Biden’s campaign has begun fundraising off the effort, calling it “beyond ridiculous” in a new email.
“It’s clear: They’re going to throw everything they have at Joe, because they know they can’t run against our record,” the email reads.
