Trump agrees to Super Bowl interview with CBS

President Trump has agreed to a sit-down interview with CBS that will be aired before the Super Bowl on Sunday. 

The news network announced on Monday that “Face the Nation” moderator Margaret Brennan would interview Trump later this week and that portions of their sit-down would be broadcast during the Super Bowl pre-game telecast.

{mosads}The Super Bowl, which is traditionally the highest-rated TV event of the year, rotates between multiple major networks, with CBS having rights to the game in 2019. 

This year’s Super Bowl LIII will be played between the Los Angeles Rams and the New England Patriots starting at 6:30 p.m. Eastern.

CNN first reported that Trump would sit for the interview with CBS.

CBS and the White House declined to comment to CNN about the interview. The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment from The Hill. 

Presidents sitting for an interview before the Super Bowl became a tradition when then-President George W. Bush was in office. Former President Obama sat for a Super Bowl interview all eight years of his tenure in the White House. 

Trump sat for an interview with former Fox News host Bill O’Reilly during his first year in office. He did not, however, agree to an interview with NBC in 2018.
