Behar to McCain: ‘If you’re going to have a hissy fit, we can’t continue’

Joy Behar accused one of her co-hosts on “The View,” Meghan McCain, of having “a hissy fit,” and cut her off during a segment on the program Monday on Sen. Amy Klobuchar’s (D-Minn.) announcement of a presidential bid.

“If you’re going to have a hissy fit, we can’t continue,” Behar told McCain, who appeared frustrated that she hadn’t had a chance to speak earlier in the segment about whether Klobuchar was smart to make a tweet about how President Trump’s hair might handle a Minnesota blizzard.

{mosads}Behar’s remarks were proceeded by McCain asking if she had “permission to speak now” on Klobuchar after Behar and the other two co-hosts, Sunny Hostin and Abby Huntsman, had already spoken.

“Can I say something now, is that OK?,” McCain, who initially was not in the camera shot, said off screen.

“From Joy?,” McCain said, looking to her right and off the podium shared by the four hosts, who were all seated. “Do I have permission? I have permission to speak now on Amy Klobuchar, we’re all good?”

As McCain spoke, the camera then cut to Behar, who had a look of astonishment on her face.

“OK. Two quick things. Number one, I had friends who were at her announce-” McCain began to say, before stopping herself.

“Nope, by all means, keep going Joy,” she then said with some sarcasm.

That’s when Behar made her” hissy fit” comment, crossing her arms and adding to an awkward moment of daytime television.

As the audience laughed, somewhat nervously, Behar changed the subject to Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.). McCain looked cross, her arms folded in front of her.

McCain and Behar have jousted before, most notably in recent weeks after Behar slammed President Trump during a segment that was supposed to focus on the passing of President George H.W. Bush.

“Can we focus on the president, please? I don’t want to talk about Trump,” McCain said at the time.

“Well, I do for a second, so excuse me!” Behar shouted. The two then spoke over each other.

“We’re honoring a great president who passed—” McCain argued.

“Excuse me a second, please. I want to talk about the difference—” Behar shot back.

“But we’re honoring — but I’m not interested in your one issue,” McCain replied.

“I don’t care what you’re interested in because I’m talking!” Behar said.

“I don’t care what you’re interested in either!” McCain retorted before co-host Whoopi Goldberg went to commercial break.
