Fox News has covered Ocasio-Cortez more than any 2020 Dem besides Warren: analysis

Fox News has devoted more airtime to freshman Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) than any of the Democrats running for president or expected to do so, except for Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.), according to a study released Wednesday.

An analysis from The Washington Post found that while mentions of several 2020 candidates spiked after their presidential announcements, Warren and Ocasio-Cortez were the two most consistently mentioned politicians on the network, followed closely by Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.) and then Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.). 

{mosads}While Ocasio-Cortez, 29, is too young to run for president, she has taken the political world by storm after dispatching a top House Democrat in her 2018 primary by supporting initiatives to push the Democratic Party further to the left. 

A self-avowed democratic socialist, Ocasio-Cortez has drawn the ire of conservatives, including Fox News hosts, over her policies, ranging from boosting taxes on the wealthy to her “Green New Deal” to combat climate change.

Some Republicans have sought to force the entire party to answer for her platforms, with Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) declaring the Senate would vote on the Green New Deal and President Trump vowing at his State of the Union address that “America will never be a socialist country.”
