Boston Celtics star Kyrie Irving wore a t-shirt touting a New York Times slogan about “truth” after a game on Thursday night.

MassLive’s Celtics reporter Tom Westerholm tweeted a photo of Irving after Thursday night’s game against the Milwaukee Bucks.
The shirt appears to be a part of the product line the Times released with their “The Truth” brand campaign.
Though the shirt Irving wore is not available on the Times’ store website, one with the same slogan runs for $25.00. The paper also sells buttons, tote bags and sweatshirts with the slogan.
The paper launched the “Truth” campaign in February 2017 in a move that appeared to target the Trump administration.
President Trump has been harshly critical of the Times in his attacks on the media, repeatedly referring to the paper as the “failing” New York Times and calling it “fake news.” At the time the campaign was launched, Trump had targeted the paper more than any other print publication.
Irving wore the shirt just months after apologizing to science teachers for his controversial remarks that supported flat-Earth conspiracy theories.
In February 2017, Irving appeared on a podcast and questioned whether the Earth is round.
He later told the Times in June 2018: “I do research on both sides. I’m not against anyone that thinks the Earth is round. I’m not against anyone that thinks it’s flat. I just love hearing the debate.”
