CNN host mocks ‘Vice President Sean Hannity’ over reports he was on policy calls with Trump

CNN “New Day” host Alisyn Camerota jabbed “Vice President Sean Hannity” on Wednesday over reports that the Fox News host was regularly involved in policy conversations with President Trump and members of Congress.

Camerota was speaking with Politico’s Jake Sherman and Anna Palmer about their new book, “Hill to Die On,” which adds more detail to Hannity’s long-friendly relationship with the Trump administration.

{mosads}“Let’s talk about the vice president, Sean Hannity,” Camerota joked. “It is fascinating, in your book, how often he’s involved in policy conference calls.”

Palmer said that they learned through their reporting that Hannity had been on multiple conference calls with Republicans and the president on health care.

“We still have members of Congress leaving private meetings where they are deciding what they are going to do on major issues and the first call is Sean Hannity,” Palmer said.

Sherman added that it was a two-way relationship, with Hannity both making and taking calls to lawmakers.

Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) was in almost “constant contact” with Hannity during the record-long partial government shutdown earlier this year, Sherman said.

“This isn’t a criticism of them. It shows Sean Hannity’s hold on members of Congress and on the president,” he said.

“Senate-confirmed Sean Hannity, by the way,” “New Day” co-host John Berman joked.

The Hill has reached out to the White House and Fox News for comment.

Hannity’s close friendship with the president has long been documented. He has been one of Trump’s fiercest allies both in the White House and on the campaign trail, appearing on stage with Trump during a rally ahead of last November’s midterm elections.

It was reported in 2017 that Trump often calls Hannity after his show on Fox News.
