Norah O’Donnell will make her official debut as anchor of “CBS Evening News” on July 15, the network announced Monday.
“The CBS Evening News With Norah O’Donnell” will be anchored from New York and will move to Washington, D.C., in the fall.
“There is a real hunger for an independent source of news, and that starts with Norah O’Donnell. She has traveled the world reporting the most important stories of our time and has covered the White House, the Pentagon and Capitol Hill,” said Susan Zirinsky, CBS News’s president and senior executive producer, in a release. {mosads}
O’Donnell, coming off seven years as co-anchor of “CBS This Morning,” will be anchor and managing editor of “Evening News,” and lead anchor for political primaries and election nights on the network. She will remain a contributing correspondent for “60 Minutes,” the network said.
She replaces evening news host Jeff Glor, who stepped into a new role over the weekend as co-host of “CBS This Morning: Saturday.”
“She is an exceptional and experienced journalist who cares deeply about the issues that affect American families. Norah is the right person at the right time,” Zirinksy said.
O’Donnell’s broadcast will also stream on CBSN every weeknight at 10 p.m. and the CBS News 24/7 streaming service.
