CNN hires former GOP Rep. Sean Duffy
CNN has hired former Rep. Sean Duffy (R-Wis.), a staunch supporter of President Trump, “State of the Union” host Jake Tapper announced.
“Let’s bring in new CNN contributor, commentator and former congressman Sean Duffy,” Tapper said Sunday morning. “Thank you for being here and congratulations on joining the CNN family.”
{mosads}Duffy announced his retirement from Congress during the summer to spend more time with his family.
The 48-year-old and his wife, Fox News contributor and Fox Nation host Rachel Campos-Duffy, welcomed their ninth child earlier this month. The baby has a heart condition, which Duffy cited during his retirement announcement in August.
The baby “will need even more love, time, and attention due to complications, including a heart condition,” he wrote at the time.
“With much prayer, I have decided that this is the right time for me to take a break from public service in order to be the support my wife, baby and family need right now,” Duffy added. “It is not an easy decision – because I truly love being your congressman – but it is the right decision for my family, which is my first love and responsibility.”
Duffy had represented Wisconsin’s 7th district since 2011.
