Fox’s Pirro rips Romney: ‘Dream of endearing yourself to the Trump-hating left is a joke’
Jeanine Pirro ripped Sen. Mitt Romney (R-Utah) on Saturday night, with the Fox News host calling on the 2012 Republican nominee to “get the hell out” of the senate while calling his vote to convict the president an attempt to endear himself “to the Trump-hating left.”
Romney voted to convict Trump of abuse of power in the Senate trial, making him the only GOP senator to break ranks with his party and persona no grata among many conservative commentators supportive of the president, including Pirro, the host of “Justice with Judge Jeanine.”
“How dare he!” Pirro said of Romney’s vote. “How could he? And why would he?”
“Your jealousy of this man [Trump] is a constant rage burning within you because you can never rise to the heights that he has,” she later added. “Because guys like you fold like wusses and you don’t have any selflessness or the ability to think about others, as Donald Trump has thought about making America first.”
Pirro went on to call for Romney’s resignation for his attempt to appeal to the “Trump-hating left.”
“How about you get the hell out of the United States Senate?” Pirro declared. “The people in Utah are furious with you, and your dream of endearing yourself to the Trump-hating left is a joke.”
Romney’s vote could prove to be a liability if he decides to seek a second Senate term in 2024.
A Deseret News-Hinckley Institute of Politics poll published Monday before Romney’s announced his decision to convict Trump showed 53 percent of Utah voters surveyed gave the president a positive job approval rating, while 52 percent viewed Romney favorably.
