Megyn Kelly: Trump’s ‘rambling’ is boring and probably ‘age-related’
Conservative pundit Megyn Kelly knocked former President Trump for what she called a “rambling” conversation with Elon Musk this week, a tendency she suggested is “probably age related.”
“And look … one of the reasons why Trump gets upset with yours truly is because I have been raising that question for a while. And when he has what appear to be senior moments, I will call him out on it, and he doesn’t like that, and I can’t say that I blame him, but that’s my job,” Kelly said Wednesday on an episode of her podcast “The Megyn Kelly Show.”
The pundit’s comments were first highlighted by Mediaite.
Trump took part Monday evening in a Spaces conversation for more than 90 minutes with Musk on the social platform X, which the billionaire tech mogul owns.
During the conversation, Trump retold the story of the failed assassination attempt from his perspective and railed against Vice President Harris — who he is running against this fall.
Kelly, a former Fox News and NBC host who has a history of clashing with the former president, said during his conversation with Musk that Trump “seemed quite rambling.”
“I mean it was like he rambles, he goes on too long, at his rallies and in these exchanges and at his presser the other day to where you get kind of bored, you lose the thread, you lose interest, which is not something you’re used to with Trump,” she said. “Trump in 2016, he was tough to lose interest in, and I think that’s probably an age-related change.”
“So, I think this is one of the challenges of the people around him, who are I’m sure desperately trying to get him to stick on message,” she added.
Many on the right have pressed the GOP nominee to focus more on policy differences with his political rivals than personal insults.
President Biden bowed out of the presidential race last month amid intensifying questions about his age, mental acuity and ability to defeat Trump in November. That decision followed a poor debate performance where the president lacked energy, had a raspy voice and appeared to lose his train of thought.
Trump is slated to host a briefing Thursday with reporters, his second in recent days, at his golf club in New Jersey.
