Trump says he regrets not going after ABC debate moderators: ‘I wish I did’

Republican presidential nominee former President Trump speaks during a presidential debate with Democratic presidential nominee Vice President Harris at the National Constitution Center, Sept. 10, 2024, in Philadelphia.

Former President Trump says he regrets not attacking ABC’s debate moderators in real time during his clash with Vice President Harris last week.

“I think my only regret is that I wanted to be elegant, and I didn’t want to go after the anchors. I wish I did, in a way,” Trump told Fox News host Greg Gutfeld during an appearance Wednesday night on the network.

“I was very unfairly treated by the anchor. I’m not fans of those guys anymore — and his hair was better five years ago,” Trump said about moderator David Muir.

During the debate in Philadelphia, Muir and co-moderator Linsey Davis offered several fact-checks of false or misleading statements Trump made, including unproven claims that immigrants are eating pets in a small Ohio town.

After the debate, allies of the former president expressed outrage with ABC over how the debate was moderated and accused the Disney-owned broadcast network of bias against him.

Trump has said he will not participate in a second debate with Harris.
