Fox News, Facebook to co-host virtual coronavirus town hall

Fox News and Facebook will co-host a virtual town hall on the coronavirus pandemic Thursday night that will include White House coronavirus task force members Deborah Birx and Surgeon General Jerome Adams, they announced.

The commercial-free event moderated by “The Story” anchor Martha MacCallum will also feature medical and business experts, according to the network. It will be aired on Fox and livestreamed on its Facebook page.

All guests will be appearing remotely along with a virtual audience, with Facebook providing audience members with a “smart video” portal device to allow them to ask questions of the experts.

Fox News and Facebook also announced they will make a joint $1 million donation to Feeding America’s COVID-19 Response Fund.

Fox News last hosted a coronavirus-themed town hall on March 24 with President Trump, Vice President Pence and other task force members at the White House.

CNN has also hosted several coronavirus town halls in recent weeks, which have included Sanjay Gupta and task force member Anthony Fauci. Its most recent town hall on Friday featured former Vice President Joe Biden, the front-runner for the 2020 Democratic presidential nomination.
