Fox’s John Roberts knocks Brennan for Vance debate fact check

Fox News anchor John Roberts took a shot at CBS debate moderator Margaret Brennan for the way she handled a fact-check of former President Trump’s running mate Sen. JD Vance (R-Ohio) during this week’s vice presidential debate.

“All right. So there you had three things happening. First of all, the fact-check, JD Vance, when they said that they weren’t going to, then they cut the microphones just as it was getting good,” Roberts said Wednesday on Fox during a discussion with former White House aide Karl Rove.

“And then that was a rather snide, condescending sneer I thought that Margaret Brennan had when she said, thank you for explaining the legal process,” he added.

Roberts’s comment was first highlighted by Mediaite.

During Tuesday night’s debate, CBS cut the microphones of both candidates after Vance complained that Brennan had pushed back on claims he had made about immigration.

“The rules that you were not going to fact-check, and since you’re fact-checking me, I think it’s important to say what’s actually going on,” Vance said before criticizing Vice President Harris for the amount of asylum claims at the southern border.

Trump and his allies have routinely criticized mainstream media outlets and the moderators of both Tuesday night’s debate and last month’s clash between the former president and Harris, which was moderated by ABC.

The network said earlier this week that instead of questioning the candidates during the debate, it would feature a QR code on screen for at least part of the forum, which would include live fact-checking.
