Poll: Americans view all but two industries more favorably since pandemic started
Only two industries are worse off in the eyes of the public compared to before the pandemic: airlines and the media.
An Axios/Harris poll released Thursday found that among 14 industries listed, the health care industry is viewed more favorably than any other since the pandemic began, with a 47 percent net approval for doctors, nurses and hospitals.
Grocery stores were second with at 35 percent, followed by technology at 28 percent and food and beverage at 23 percent.
Net approval for the media was at negative 5 percent, with airlines at negative 7 percent.
The poll results are in line with other surveys that have showed declines over the years. The public’s overall trust in media stands at 41 percent, according to Gallup poll from 2019. The figure is a marked decline from 1976, when trust stood at 72 percent.
The Axios/Harris poll also found that 75 percent of consumers generally agree that “companies were more reliable than the federal government in keeping America running” during the pandemic.
