Jason Miller, a senior adviser to President Trump’s reelection campaign, said Sunday that presumptive Democratic nominee Joe Biden’s running mate selection “in many ways” will serve as “his political living will.”
“It is consequential in the fact that for Joe Biden, his VP pick is in many ways his political living will,” Miller told host Chris Wallace on “Fox News Sunday.”
“He’s already said he’s going to be a transition candidate on to the next generation. He’s refused to say that he would run for a second term, so it really does matter who is picked,” Miller said.
“So it really does matter who is picked, but the power center in this Biden campaign and what a potential Biden presidency would look like is the radical left-wing mob. It’s [Sen.] Bernie Sanders [I-Vt.] , it’s [Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.)], it’s [Rep.] Ilhan Omar [D-Minn.], and those are really the ideas for the American people right now,” he added.
Biden’s running mate is expected to be announced ahead of the Democratic National Convention, which is slated to begin Aug. 17.
Biden, 77, wouldn’t commit to serving a second term when asked late last year if he would only serve one term in office if elected.
“No I won’t commit one way or another,” Biden said in December. “Let’s win this election then see where we are. Let’s see what happens.”
Biden would be 82 at the start of a possible second term if he were to capture the White House in November.
Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.), Rep. Karen Bass (D-Calif.), Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.), Sen. Tammy Duckworth (D-Ill.) and former Obama national security adviser Susan Rice are reportedly at the top of Biden’s VP list.
