Fox’s Peter Doocy officiates sister’s wedding amid hurricane

Fox News correspondent Peter Doocy officiated his sister’s recent wedding in Palm Beach, Fla., amid Hurricane Isaias and emergency evacuation orders.

Doocy, the son of “Fox & Friends” co-host Steve Doocy, described the events that led to the 33-year-old reporter performing the wedding of his young sister, Sally, to longtime boyfriend Ali Sadri.

“Their dream wedding was planned a year in advance, but then with the global pandemic, just about everything that could go wrong, did,” Steve Doocy told People magazine. “During the last 100 days Sally Doocy and Ali Sadri’s wedding was shut down first by the [Centers for Disease Control and Prevention], then the state of Florida with their COVID-19 restrictions.”

The wedding was originally scheduled for May 2, but was postponed to Aug. 1 due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Steve Doocy also shared that the priest who was supposed to officiate it “unfortunately and unexpectedly passed away.”

“Suddenly, we needed a new venue and new officiant,” he explained.

A venue was booked, but a priest was still needed, leading to Peter Doocy handling the ceremony. 

“Last year, Peter was asked by a Fox News Channel producer to officiate at his wedding,” Steve Doocy said. “Peter applied online and for $40 became a legit minister, who could marry people.”

“When the priest passed away, Peter checked and his license was still active and valid in Florida. He offered his services and Sally said yes. She also started calling her brother Father Peter,” he added.

“One thing I didn’t prepare for was how moved I would be by seeing how happy my sister and her now-husband were, with the front-row seat to her wedding,” Peter Doocy told People. “I got choked up a little bit, but regained my composure — slowly but surely — and got to introduce her as a ‘Mrs.’ for the first time.”

Peter Doocy joined Fox News in 2009 as a general assignment reporter.

Steve Doocy, 63, has been with the network since its inception in 1996.
