Howard Kurtz: Kamala Harris ‘getting walk on water coverage’ by media after VP pick
Fox News’s Howard Kurtz accused the media of giving Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.) “walk on water coverage,” and also said that she and Joe Biden would be the “most liberal ticket in Democratic Party history.”
“Kamala Harris is getting walk on water coverage, it’s absolutely stunning. I mean, she’s a ground-breaking pick, she’s the first Black woman, as you know, on a major party’s ticket, the daughter of Jamaican and Indian immigrants and probably a net plus for Biden,” Kurtz said on “America’s Newsroom.”
“But there is this effort by the media, conscious or unconscious, to say, ‘Oh, she’s a moderate just like Joe Biden.’ That’s only true if you mean more moderate than AOC. This is the most liberal ticket in Democratic Party history,” he added.

Kurtz’s remarks echo arguments made by the White House and President Trump’s campaign, which has cast Harris as far to the left of Biden, who named Harris his running mate on Tuesday.
Yet some progressives have criticized the pick, arguing that Harris was too much of a centrist compared to Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.), another candidate to be Biden’s running mate.
Anchor Julie Banderas asked Kurtz, given a GovTrack analysis that found Harris to be the most liberal member of the Senate in 2019, whether voters would see her as a centrist.
“That said, will voters really buy into Harris recasting herself as a moderate?” Banderas asked.
“It’s ultimately going to be a Trump-Biden race,” Kurtz replied. “Right now, we are seeing an explosion of gushing commentary of coverage of Kamala Harris. I haven’t seen anything like it since the Clinton-Gore bus trip of 1992.”
