Donna Brazile emotional about Harris vice presidency: ‘Grateful this moment has come’

Donna Brazile, former chair of the Democratic National Committee, got emotional when discussing Vice President-elect Kamala Harris’s election on Fox News, saying that she was ‘grateful’ for the moment.

“I’m so grateful that this moment has come,” Brazile said in tears. “And I’m very thankful that vice president Biden, now President-elect Biden, has given us this moment.”

During an appearance on Fox News on Saturday, Brazile was asked how she felt seeing Harris make history as the first African American and first woman elected to serve in the nation’s second-highest position.

Brazile, who is Black, took a long pause as she tried to hold back tears, and then said “it’s been a long time coming.”

“To be the last to get voting rights, to be those who just waited and waited for our turn. It’s been a long time coming,” Brazile said. “I thought about my mom and grandmother this morning. They didn’t have the right to vote, but I did.

“I spent all my life believing that the right to vote was the key to our future,” she continued. “And because of the American people, the faith, those who did not see color [or] gender, those who believed it was about confidence and just giving everyone a seat at the table.”

Brazile then said that she was a “grateful American” and “grateful woman,” adding that voters made the United States “a country for all of us.”

Biden was projected to win the presidency a little after 11:30 am on Saturday after being projected to win the key battleground state of Pennsylvania.
