Vox hires Atlantic’s Swati Sharma to be editor
Vox has nabbed Swati Sharma, a managing editor at The Atlantic, to be the new editor in chief of Vox.com, according to The New York Times.
Sharma replaces Lauren Williams, who announced in a tweet in November that she would leave Vox in February to launch “Capital B, a local and national nonprofit news organization serving Black audiences.”
Prior to The Atlantic, Sharma worked at The Washington Post as a deputy general assignment editor and at The Boston Globe as an online editor helping cover the Boston Marathon bombing, according to the Times.
The Atlantic did not immediately comment on its plans for Sharma’s former position.
Along with its publisher, Melissa Bell, Vox was founded by Ezra Klein and Matthew Yglesias, both of whom have also left the outlet.
Klein left Vox in November to join The New York Times as a columnist and podcast host. Yglesias left around the same time, to launch a presence on Substack.
