The press pool covering Vice President Harris was sent home on Wednesday morning after an unidentified reporter tested positive for COVID-19.
The reporter was tested, as most people entering the White House are, at a site off of Lafayette Square, according to McClatchy White House correspondent Michael Wilner, who was serving as the print representative in the pool.
Typically, Wilner said, reporters who are scheduled to be in the White House on a given day are tested before entering and upon receiving a negative result are given wristbands allowing them to come and go throughout the day.
Each day’s print representative is responsible for writing public notes about the day’s events.
President Biden’s press pool stepped in to cover Harris for the rest of the day, including a 2 p.m. meeting Biden and the vice president have to discuss supply chain issues with members of the House and Senate.
After the meeting, Biden is expected to sign an executive order focused on improving the supply chain for semiconductors, or chips, used in many new technologies, along with other critical resources.
