MSNBC changes branding of live breaking news coverage to ‘MSNBC Reports’

MSNBC confirmed Monday that it has rebranded its news content, changing the names from “MSNBC Live” to “MSNBC Reports.”

The change, according to a person familiar with the move, is meant to highlight the difference between live breaking news on the channel and left-leaning programs such as “The Rachel Maddow Show.”

Names of shows are changing, but not time slots or hosts. The following new names are debuting on weekdays: “Stephanie Ruhle Reports,” “Hallie Jackson Reports,” “Craig Melvin Reports,” “Katy Tur Reports” and “Ayman Mohyeldin Reports.”

On weekends, the name changes include “Kendis Gibson and Lindsey Reiser Report,” “Alex Witt Reports” and “Yasmin Vossoughian Reports.”

The use of “reports” as a brand on MSNBC began with the “Andrea Mitchell Reports” show in 2008.
