Group puts ‘Trans Lives Are Precious’ billboard outside Mar-a-Lago

Folx Health, a health care company that caters to the LGBTQ community, has put up a billboard outside former President Trump’s Mar-A-Lago resort that reads “Trans Lives Are Precious.”

“2020 was a challenging year. And this week, multiple states across the US are trying to pass hateful laws against the Trans community and Trans youth. Visibility, showing up for Trans people, celebrating their inherent beauty, and taking action to #DefendTransRights is crucial,” the company said in a series of tweets.

“We chose this location deliberately to remind our former president, a man that was focused on dismantling the rights of transgender Americans, that our existence is valid and important and that we deserve to be seen, held and cared for,” Folx Health added.

The Hill has reached out to Trump’s office for comment.

The health care company told news station KUTV that it “sought out to create a moment” to remind Trump that the trans community’s existence “is valid and important.”

Folx Health Vice President of Marketing Rocco Kayiatos told KUTV that as transgender man who began his transition more than 20 years ago, he could not believe that he would be in a position to work for a company that would allow him to put up this billboard.

“For trans people, visibility is about changing, affirming and saving our lives. More than just seeing other trans people’s images, the value of seeing a message–from your car while driving on a freeway in Florida — that your life is precious is just I honestly would likely drop my jaw, start to cry and careen off the road,” Kayiatos said.
