Canadian Proud Boys chapter says it has dissolved
The Canadian chapter of the Proud Boys said that it has dissolved after their country named them a terrorist group.
In a statement shared on social media Sunday, Proud Boys Canada said there isn’t a group anymore. The group stated that they didn’t have enough financial backing to overturn their designation as a terrorist organization in February.

The Washington Post first reported the news.
“We are just regular patriotic Canadians. We are electricians, carpenters, financial advisors, mechanics, etc,” Proud Boys Canada said in their statement. “More than that, we are fathers, brothers, uncles and sons. In the face of a tyrannical leftist government, we regular citizens were banned and outlawed for holding the same beliefs as the men who built this country.”
The designation carries financial and legal consequences. According to the Post, Canadian authorities can add members to the country’s no-fly list, banks can freeze their assets and police can seize their property.
The decision comes as the far-right militant group has faced scrutiny for their role in the Jan. 6 insurrection at the Capitol. Recently, a third member of the group was arrested in April on conspiracy charges.
