Longtime Nevada political reporter to pen Harry Reid biography

Longtime Nevada political reporter Jon Ralston is writing a book about the life and political career of former Sen. Harry Reid (D).

News of the book deal was first reported Wednesday by Punchbowl News, which in its morning newsletter called Ralston “the unofficial dean of Nevada political press corps,” saying he “knows more about the Battle Born State than anyone.”

Ralston confirmed the news in a tweet later Wednesday morning, saying a biography of Reid is something he has “long wanted to write.”

“He is arguably the most powerful man in NV history and an important national figure,” Ralston said. “You think you know everything about Reid, but you don’t. He has done interviews, will do more. Pretty excited!”

Reid spent three decades serving Nevada in the upper chamber, leading the Democratic caucus from 2005 to 2017.

His autobiography “The Good Fight” published in 2009 and details his upbringing in poverty in the town of Searchlight and chronicles his rise to power in Washington, D.C.

Ralston’s book will be published by Simon & Schuster, Punchbowl News reported, with Matt Latimer and Keith Urbahn at Javelin representing the veteran political journalist.
