Justice Breyer to be interviewed on ‘Fox News Sunday’ amid calls for retirement

Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer will be interviewed during this week’s edition of “Fox News Sunday,” the network announced Thursday.

Breyer will be interviewed by anchor Chris Wallace as part of his first television appearance since announcing he will not retire from the high court despite urging from some progressives that he do so while the Biden administration is in the White House and the Senate majority is lead by Democrats.

“There are many things that go into a retirement decision,” Breyer, who has been on the high court since 1994, said during a recent interview with The New York Times. “I don’t think I’m going to stay there till I die — hope not.”

In July, Breyer said he was undecided regarding his future on the bench.

Senate Majority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) said this summer that Senate Democrats “stand ready to expeditiously fill any potential vacancies on the Supreme Court should they arise.”
