Tucker Carlson gets Rittenhouse interview for Monday night

Fox News host Tucker Carlson will interview Kyle Rittenhouse on Monday night following the 18-year-old’s Friday afternoon acquittal.

Rittenhouse will appear on “Tucker Carlson Tonight” on Nov. 22 at 8 p.m. EST after a jury, in a unanimous decision, found Rittenhouse not guilty of all five charges against him.

The teen was on trial following violence that broke out last year in Kenosha, Wis., during a demonstration against the police shooting of Jacob Blake, a Black man. Blake survived the shooting, but the incident left him paralyzed. At the time, Rittenhouse (then 17) traveled from Illinois and during the demonstration fatally shot two people and injured another with a military-style semiautomatic rifle.

During the trial, Rittenhouse’s defense team argued that the teen was acting in self defense when he fired his weapon, adding that he had attended the demonstration to prevent small businesses from getting looted.

However, prosecutors argued Rittenhouse was “drawn to the chaos” in Kenosha.

“You cannot claim self-defense against a danger you create,” Thomas Binger, one of the prosecutors on the case, told jurors earlier this week. “That’s critical right here. If you’re the one who’s threatening others, you lose the right to claim self-defense.”

The jury acquitted Rittenhouse after three days of deliberations in a decision that has been praised by conservatives and condemned by liberals.

“I believe justice has been served in the Kyle Rittenhouse trial. I hope everyone can accept the verdict, remain peaceful, and let the community of Kenosha heal and rebuild,” Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) tweeted after the verdict.

The family of one of the men Rittenhouse killed put out a statement after the verdict saying there was “no justice” and that they are “heartbroken.”

In August of 2020, Carlson commented on the situation in Kenosha stating, “People in charge from the governor of Wisconsin on down refused to enforce the law. They stood back and watched Kenosha burn.”

“So are we really surprised this looting and arson accelerated to murder? How shocked are we that 17-year-olds with rifles decided they had to maintain order when no one else would?” he added
