Steve Doocy reveals coronavirus diagnosis

Steve Doocy, a co-host of the “Fox & Friends” morning program, returned to the show from vacation on Thursday morning and revealed he and his family, including his son and White House corespondent Peter Doocy, had contracted coronavirus.

“Did you have a fun vacation,” co-host Ainsley Earnhardt asked Doocy as the show opened.

“We gathered together as a family and then we — A lot of people trade gifts, we traded omicron,” Doocy responded.

The longtime morning talk show host said he suspected he and his family had contracted the new variant because of their symptoms.

“The tell is, what omicron does — remember, delta hits you in the chest,” he said. “Omicron hits you right in the throat.”

Doocy said he and his son Peter Doocy as well as his wife, a cancer survivor, tested positive. He mentioned that he waited in line for five hours to get a test at a local urgent care clinic.

“As a cancer survivor, we were worried about her,” he said of his wife. “She’s been under our doctor’s care and she’s doing much better.”

Doocy has been one of Fox’s loudest proponents of vaccines and has dismissed conspiracy theories about the safety and efficacy of inoculation.

“Well, here’s the thing. And one of the [Centers for Disease Control and Prevention] officials said yesterday, look, the pandemic right now is really just with people who have not been vaccinated. Ninety-nine percent of the people who died have not been vaccinated,” he said last summer.
