Savannah Guthrie announces positive COVID-19 test

NBC News’s Savannah Guthrie says she has tested positive for the coronavirus.

Guthrie, a host of the “Today” show, announced her positive test at the top of Monday morning’s broadcast.

“Well here we go Hoda, we’re trading places,” Guthrie said. “I’m working from home, you’re back in the studio.”

Guthrie’s co-host, Hoda Kotb, contracted the coronavirus last week, she said, but has tested negative twice since and returned to Studio 1A in Rockefeller Center on Monday.

“I feel like we’re like a ton of the country,” Kotb told Guthrie. “I mean this is so weird, I’m having a flashback to of 2020. I got two negative tests, so I’m back in my seat and I know that your test will come quickly.”

Guthrie, who was broadcasting from home, said she is experiencing mild symptoms and is isolating.

“Little sniffles, not much more than that,” she said.

A number of high-profile journalists and media personalities have tested positive in recent weeks. CBS News correspondent Bill Whitaker announced his positive diagnosis during “60 Minutes” on Sunday night. CNBC’s Jim Cramer announced he had tested positive last month.
