CBS News announces leadership changes in Washington bureau
CBS News announced on Monday changes to its editorial leadership in Washington, D.C., ahead of this year’s midterm elections.
Mark Lima, currently the outlet’s West Coast bureau chief, will assume a new role as vice president and Washington bureau chief Mary Hager, executive producer of “Face the Nation,” will be given an additional role of executive editor of politics.
Matthew Mosk has also been hired as senior investigative editorial director, the company announced. Mosk spent the past 12 years at ABC News.
“We are investing in the future of CBS News by continuing to strengthen our newsgathering and investigative reporting – much of which originates out of Washington,” said Neeraj Khemlani, president and co-head of CBS News. “We are putting together a strong team ahead of the midterms and presidential elections, who will bring a fresh multiplatform perspective to their respective areas and continue to make CBS News a destination for top political reporting and exclusive investigations.”
The new leadership team in Washington will help CBS “[hold] leaders accountable and [raise] the questions that go to the heart of the issues important to our viewers,” said Ingrid Ciprian-Matthews, executive vice president of newsgathering for the outlet.
Lorna Jones will stay in her role as deputy bureau chief in Washington, a job she has held since 2020 after serving as CBS’s managing editor in Washington.
