Frist to barnstorm for GOP in August
Sen. Majority Leader Bill Frist (R-Tenn.) plans to campaign and raise money this month for at least five Republican challengers and incumbents, according to a schedule released by his political action committee, VOLPAC.
Frist began his tour yesterday with a fundraiser in Chicago. He will fly to Seattle and Spokane next week to campaign with GOP Senate candidate Mike McGavick and then raise money at three stops in California.
In mid-August he is scheduled to visit two key states in the presidential nominating process. First he will stump for Republican Jeff Lamberti, the co-president of the Iowa state Senate who is challenging Rep. Leonard Boswell (D-Iowa).
Then Frist will head to Nassau, N.H., on August 20 to raise money. In addition, Frist plans stops in Florida, Alabama and Georgia. At the end of August, he will campaign with Sen. Conrad Burns (R-Mont.) and Rep. Mark Kennedy (R-Minn.) and make stops in Iowa and Tennessee as well.
