Fla. Poll holds more bad news for Harris

If retired Gen. Tommy Franks were to jump into the Florida Senate race, he would lead Rep. Katherine Harris by 4 percentage points in the Republican primary, according to a new poll of Florida voters conducted by Strategic Vision LLC, a GOP polling firm.

Harris still leads Rep. Mark Foley (R-Fla.), state House Speaker Allan Bense and others, with 10 percent undecided. Foley and Bense are not candidates in the Senate race.

“This is the first time since we have begun polling on the Senate race that another potential candidate has led Congresswoman Harris,” said David E. Johnson, CEO and co-founder of Strategic Vision. “This demonstrates the strong erosion of support that her candidacy is suffering.”

The poll also shows Harris trailing Democratic Sen. Bill Nelson 56 percent to 24 percent in a potential general election.
