More bad news for Rep. Harris
Even though Rep. Katherine Harris (R-Fla.) tried to reinvigorate her campaign last week by announcing that she would pour $10 million of her own money into the effort, a new poll conducted by Strategic Vision shows that voters prefer anyone but Harris.
According to the poll, Sen. Bill Nelson (D-Fla.) would annihilate Harris by 28 percentage points if the election were held today.
But if Harris exited the race, Nelson would face a much tougher time getting reelected, the poll found. A hypothetical match-up between Nelson and Gen. Tommy Franks, for instance, results in a statistical tie, and Gov. Jeb Bush (R-Fla.) would pummel Nelson by 15 percentage points, with only 9 percent of voters undecided.
Also, Franks, state Chief Financial Officer Tom Gallagher and Reps. Ginny Brown-Waite and Mark Foley could beat Harris in a primary, the poll found.
