House conservatives plan fundraiser
Prominent House conservatives will assemble this evening at the American Legion Hall on Capitol Hill for the Early St. Patrick’s Day Party, the first major event benefiting the recently established House Conservatives Fund.
The fund, which is chaired by Rep. Tom Feeney (R-Fla.) and has the nominal support of many members of the conservative Republican Study Committee (RSC), was created within the past year to “expand the majority of the majority,” one organizer said.
Few RSC members who are expected to attend tonight’s event are known for their fundraising prowess within the conference, but fund organizers hope to improve on the group’s overall rainmaking ability during the current election cycle.
Feeney and RSC Chairman Mike Pence (R-Ind.) are scheduled to be the special guests at tonight’s event, according to an invitation, and organizers expect a sizable roster of K Street supporters.
Other RSC members expected to attend include Rep. John Shadegg (R-Ariz.), who recently ran an unsuccessful bid for majority leader, as well as Reps. Mike Conaway (R-Texas), Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.), Virginia Foxx (R-N.C.), Phil Gingrey (R-Ga.), Wally Herger (R-Calif.), Steve King (R-Iowa), Paul Ryan (R-Wis.), Mike Sodrel (R-Ind.) and Lynn Westmoreland (R-Ga.).
