Al Roker pushes anti-bullying bill
Al Roker plans to make an appearance on Capitol Hill today to push anti-bullying legislation.
The TV weatherman will moderate a panel on bullying featuring Reps. John Shimkus (R-Ill.) and Danny Davis (D-Ill.), as well as teachers and law enforcement officers.
Shimkus has sponsored the Anti-Bullying Act, which spokesman Steve Tomaszewski conceded is “is not a solution” to bullying, but he said the bill would take steps to respond to it.
Under the legislation, school districts would be required to report the number of bullying incidents to the Department of Education and to establish procedures for students and parents to report bullying.
Court TV is sponsoring the panel discussion.
