Oropeza enters race for late rep.’s seat

State Sen. Jenny Oropeza (Calif.) became the second Democrat to enter the special-election race to fill recently deceased Rep. Juanita Millender-McDonald’s (D) seat.

Oropeza joins state Assemblywoman Laura Richardson in vying for the seat.

A spokesman for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee said the committee has no plans to get involved in the election, which likely will be scheduled for some time in August.
