DCCC calls on McHenry to disclose fraud-case ties
The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) called on Rep. Patrick McHenry (R-N.C.) yesterday to disclose any involvement in the voter fraud case of his aide, Michael Aaron Lay.
Lay was indicted by a grand jury last week on charges of voting in North Carolina in 2004 despite not being a permanent resident. Lay was also registered in Tennessee.
{mosads}McHenry won the Republican primary runoff by fewer than 100 votes that year and went on to win his seat.
“Patrick McHenry is always willing to preach about personal responsibility — unless it relates to him and his staff,” said Jennifer Crider, a spokeswoman for the DCCC.
McHenry’s office did not return a call seeking comment.
