Snow to leave White House

White House spokesman Tony Snow told reporters Friday that he would leave the administration in two weeks.

{mosads}Snow, a former talk show host who had previously also worked for Fox News, had replaced Scott McClellan in June of last year as President Bush’s primary spokesman.

“I sadly accept his desire to leave the White House,” Bush told reporters.

During his stint at the White House, Snow had to battle cancer for the second time in his life. He survived a bout with colon cancer, but earlier this year he revealed that a growth in his abdomen was cancerous.

The White House said that his deputy, Dana Perino, would take over the job.

“Dana is a smart, capable person,” Bush said. The president also praised Perino for being able to break down complex issues in a way that allows the public to understand them.
