Lampson challenger, Saul post impressive 3Q hauls
A former chief of staff to Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas) raised more than $200,000 in the third quarter for his campaign in Rep. Nick Lampson’s (D-Texas) district, while a national GOP recruit in New York brought his total raised to more than $750,000 this cycle.
Third-quarter numbers continued to emerge in some of the key House races around the country on Tuesday, two days after the quarter ended and nearly two weeks before financial filings are due.
Pete Olson faces a crowded GOP primary in the Republican-leaning district held by Lampson. He reported raising $211,000 after entering the race midway through the quarter. He also announced a fundraiser with another Texas senator and former boss, Republican Phil Gramm, on Oct. 28.
Businessman Andrew Saul pulled in about $350,000 in the third quarter for his campaign in freshman Rep. John Hall’s (D-N.Y.) district, according to his campaign. The sum is added to the $322,000 he already raised in the second quarter and the $100,000 he has contributed to his own campaign.
