RNC expects to pull in $5 million Tuesday night

The Republican presidential candidates will help fill their party’s coffers Tuesday night to the tune of $5 million, according to a Republican National Committee (RNC) official.

{mosads}Despite their recent, intense bickering over who is the most qualified or has the most consistent record to be the standard-bearer for a reeling party, the leading candidates will all be in attendance at tonight’s RNC Presidential Trust Dinner at the National Building Museum.

Former Sen. Fred Thompson (Tenn.), former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani and Sen. John McCain (Ariz.) are all expect to attend and offer brief remarks.

An RNC official said it is difficult to compare the $5 million figure to other committee fundraisers.

“This will clearly help ensure that Republican candidates have the necessary resources to communicate our message,” the official said.

President Bush is not attending.
